Lazarus Native Horses
A bit of info for the breed native to Lazarus.
Tanner Marsh Horse
Heights
Stallions: 17hh - 20+hh
Mares: 16hh - 18hh
Colours: Any solid colour. Most prominent in the breed is Seal Brown followed closely by Bay and Black. Only on a very rare occasion will they be born either Chestnut or White.
White markings on the face are sometimes seen, usually all will have some form of white markings on their face most in the form of a small small star or a thin stripe or blaze.
White markings on the legs are seldom seen but are not completely uncommon and never going above the knees or hocks.
White markings of any sort are more common and more acceptable on the Sporthorse strand of the breed.
Looks:
Temperament: Stallions are seen as aggressive and dominate before the gelding process, which usually turns them friendly; however, some geldings retain there aggressive temper. They are also seen as brave often defending their herds at loss of limb or even some times life, the stallions also tend to be very fast often urging the herd on from behind and almost always being able to outrun their predator.
Mare's are often seen as nervous turning to the stallion of the herd for reassurance and safety, the exception to this is the alpha mare who is often very brave. They are also, more often than not, very agile making them able to leap great heights and distances as well as making them capable of navigating the dense forests of Lazarus. The mare's tend to be a lot smarter than the stallions and geldings, almost genius like; the alpha mare uses this genius to help the herd navigate the forests and avoid fatal disasters.
Excels in: Pulling, SJ and Endurance
Cross Breeding - Tanner Marsh Sport Horse
Lighter crossbreeds usually excel at anything thrown at them but are often considered too weak when given the challenge of pulling loads. These crossbreeds have usually had the influence of Arabian or Thoroughbred blood introduced to them to make them slimmer and fitter and more suited as riding horses. These crossbreeds are often found flying across the cross country course more at home in the open than in the arena and if the right bloodline is introduced they tend to be a lot faster than their purebred counterparts. Warmblood and Hot blood influence introduced into the line can also cause a severe problem of a long but very weak back and sometime fragile bones although these problems are seldom if a foal is born with these problems it will more than often not live into adulthood.
Heavier crossbreeds usually excel at pulling loads and endurance type events. These cross breeds have usually had the influence of draft blood introduced to them to make them bulkier and better farm horses. With the influence of draft blood can also bring problems including weak knees and legs if the foal grows to fast and sometimes a back that is far too short. A foal born with any of these problems will often not make it too adulthood, the most humane thing being to put them down since weak legs and knees will often not support the mass of their body and short back will impede on their all round health making it increasingly difficult to move freely more often than not making them stiff and listless.

History of the Breed
The Tanner Marsh is the native breed of the Isle of Lazarus, they were there long before the first people walked the island and will be there long after the island has become devoid of human life.
The island previous inhabitants left a warning for the next people to come on the headstones of their dead that the majority of the deaths were caused by a disease that swept the island, one they thought was spread by the island's wild horses. This was never proven and there has been no outbreak of any disease since the founding families arrived other than an influenza epidemic and a Cholera epidemic. They also left a warning to be wary of the skeleton with four fingers (See the Ghost of Lazarus for more info).
The breed was first discovered by Tanner Mercer, while he was hunting in the surrounding forest with his brother Xavier, roughly a year and a half after arriving on the island. He discovered a stallion laying weak and trapped by a piece of wire fencing near the cemetery. After freeing the stallion, with help from Xavier, he helped nurse him back to health, the stallion was most grateful and after being returned to the wild often stayed close to the Mercer household.

Brands
All Tanner Marsh horses and ponies are branded depending on their strain, pure bred Tanner Marsh's (Horse or Pony strand) are branded with an LTM inside a triangle where as the sport horse and pony strands are branded with the LTM inside a triangle and a bar above it with SP or SH on it to detonate that it is a sport horse. Purebreds are also branded on the nearside (left side) of the neck under the the mane with their 5 digit registry number, sport horses and ponies are also also branded with their registry number in the same place but with an SP or SH at the end of the number.

Current Herds
Currently there are 3 main herds roaming the island as well as a number of small herds (no more than 5 at the most) and an even greater number of "Loner" Tanner Marsh.
Reaper's Herd
This one is protected by a very large, very scarred jet black stallion (who has been dubbed "Reaper"). Reaper is extremely protective of his herd and extremely aggressive already having killed one wrangler sent by a man from the mainland to catch him. Reaper's alpha mare is a beautiful older chestnut whom he is never seen without, she's fairly tall and not as bulky as him but is more trusting of the island's population than Reaper. Reaper's herd is often found in the southern area of Lazarus near the Military Academy, Cemetery and forest surrounding SWL.
Tiger's Herd
This herd is under the watchful eye of a handsome seal brown stallion dubbed "Tiger". Tiger isn't as big as the others but then again neither is the majority of his herd, this herd falls into the "pony" strand of the Tanner Marsh. Tiger is extremely fast and has outrun everyone that's tried to catch him. His alpha mare is a tiny chestnut mare who very rarely leaves his side unless they are moving, to which she directs the herd from the front. Tiger's herd is often found in the western part of Lazarus' forest.
Winter's Herd
This herd is run by a very calm white stallion dubbed "Winter". Winter is just as protective as any other stallion but more trusting often grazing with his herd out in the open down by the beach or near the edges of the forests. Winter is the only white Tanner Marsh that has been seen on the island in the past 4 years, his alpha mare is a majestic almost regal bay mare with a long flowing black mane and tail, she is often seen grazing apart from the herd or on higher ground and is incredibly friendly to the local population. Winter's herd is usually seen in the forest in the northern parts of Lazarus near Lazarus Heights and the beach.

Ghost of Lazarus
There is a legend that started when a message was found carved into a marker at the entrance of the cemetery, it tells of a warning, a warning to be weary of the skeleton with four fingers. Pictures found carved into various stones and trees tell of a thick giant stallion with a skeletal like appearance, it's said that he was the one to spread the plague and disease that killed off the island's original inhabitants after they angered him. More pictures also tell of a ghostly herd that follow him often causing the island's animals to turn insane and, more often than not, commit a sort of suicide by throwing themselves off the cliffs at the edges of the island.
The oldest records show no inclination towards confirming or denying the existence of this stallion or his herd although it is thought that he is the sire or "Father" of all Tanner Marsh since some stallions seem to share a unique quality of having skeletal like features or markings and some mare's seem to "glow" when seen in the moonlight.
No one has ever seen this supposed stallion or his herd and the island's animals have never shown a ritualistic need or want to kill themselves.
There are other pictures that show a hollow of sorts where the stallion and his herd supposedly live although various searches of the island have come up empty and no one is willing to go tearing down the dense forests just on the offhand that the legend is true.

Please bare in mind this breed is not a real life breed, I created them for the Island of Lazarus. Currently the only way to obtain one is through me, the registry for them is run by me so I can keep track of them.
Shadow Warrior Lodge is a Sims 3 stable, although several features and various other things are based off how a real life stud farm in New Zealand works.
